Description: Published in "L'artiste". State: Second state of 2. Ref: Dutuit 15/Schneiderman 18.
Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Charles Meryon' after 'Reinier Nooms Zeeman'. Charles Meryon (1821-1868) was one the great depictors of Paris. He made highly individual graphic works. Due to an instable mental health, his prints grew more strange in subjectmatter. Reinier Nooms (dit Zeeman, 1623-1664) was a Dutch painter of mainly nautical scenes. He started painting after a career on sea, and this hands on knowledge of sailing is very apparent in his paintings.
