Artists and Engravers: Made by Antonio Tempesta after own design. Antonio Tempesta (ca. 1555-1630) was a Rome born artist, who specialised in etchings. His prints with hunting scenes, biblical matter etc. attracted great popularity in the early 17th. Century and were copied widely.
Subject: Antique print, titled: 'Magno Persarum quondam fuit insula Rogi ', A large drive hunt, with men on horseback chasing deer and boar into a line of pikemen at the top of a hill.
Condition: Good, no margins. Some browning and remnants of old hinges verso. An oil stain in the lower left corner of the image. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
