Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Balthasar Moncornet' after own design. Balthasar Moncornet (c.1600-1668) was a French painter, engraver and print dealer. He is an interesting and talented, but under-appreciated engraver. He is the father of Jean Moncornet.
Subject: Antique Master Print, titled: 'Henricus Spondanus Mauleosolensis [ ].' - Portrait of Henri Spondanus (or De Sponde), born in Mauleon 1568, died at Toulouse, 1643, French Catholic jurist, historian and continuator of the Annales Ecclesiastici.
Condition: Good, given age. Thread margins, laid down on a contemporary support sheet. The support sheet with some creasing and some stains in the lower right. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
