Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Cornelis Ploos van Amstel' after 'Hendrik Avercamp'. Cornelis Ploos van Amstel (1726-1798) was active as merchant in Amsterdam. He was an avid collector of art and invented a method of making prints after drawings from his own collection. Hendrik Avercamp (1585-1634) was a Dutch painter of mainly winter- and ice skating scenes.
