Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Boetius Adam Bolswert' after 'Abraham Bloemaert'. Boetius a Bolswert (1580-1633) was a renowned copper-plate engraver from Friesland. In his time the paintings of Peter Paul Rubens called forth new endeavours by engravers to imitate or reproduce the breadth, density of mass and dynamic illumination of th Abraham Bloemaert (1566-1651) was a Dutch painter and etcher/engraver. He was one of the 'Haarlem Mannerists', but shifted towards a more Baroque style around 1600.
