Artists and Engravers: Made by S. Mulinari after Federigo Zuccheri. Stefano Mulinari (ca. 1741 - ca. 1790), Italian engraver, pupil of Scacciati, engraved mostly etching/mezzotint combination after great Italian masters. Original late 18th c. Etching in greenish black. A typical wash is applied to the plate to create a watercolor kind of impression. This is typical for the work of Mulinari.
Subject: Antique print, untitled. Two soldiers and a kneeling woman. One of the soldiers stands guard, while the other decaptitates a female martyr (Catherine of Alexandria?).
Condition: Very goodl, given age. A few tiny stains in top margin of the print. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
