Artists and Engravers: Made by an anonymous engraver after I. Callot. Jacques Callot (Nancy 1592-1635) was a famous baroque printmaker and draftsman from Lorraine / present day France. He was active in Italy employed by Cosimo II de Medici until 1621. He is an important figure in the development of the old master print and highly popular.
Subject: Antique print, titled: 'Christ visiting Simon the Pharisee', (Gospel of Luke, 7:36-50), Christ visiting Simon the Pharisee, and Mary Magdalen washing Christ's feet.
Condition: Very good, given age. Excellent impressions on handlaid paper with watermark, with margin around the platemark, minimally shopsoiled and foxed. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
