Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Frans Hogenberg' after an anonymous artist. Frans / Franz Hogenberg (1535-1590) was a German / Flemish cartographer from Brabant. He drew maps for Dutch, German and English publishers. He was probably trained by his father-in-law, Hendrik Terbruggen. Hogenberg also published a great number of history prints and newsprints.
Subject: Antique Master Print, titled: 'Die Schlacht vor Grevelingen.' - The battle near Grevelingen on july 15th. 1558, part of the Franco-Spanish war.
Condition: Very good, given age. Ample margins, small restored tear upper left margin. Manuscript letter 4 in right margin. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
